Season Success: Gabrielle DeSanctis and Jane Fahy have had a great season so far in their respective events. All members of the team have been phenomenal in individual events each having multiple top-three finishes this season. The team is composed of Laura Meade, Mackenzie Mix, Janaiya Cruz-Bermudez, and Ayjah Clarke. Sprintin: The women's 4x200 team has been unbelievable this season and has two wins and a second place finish under their belt. This is Meade's second Empire 8 award this season as she won Empire 8 Track Athlete of the week on December 5. The Glenville, NY native was also a part of the winning women's 4x200 team. Meade won the women's 60m with a time of 8.08 and captured first in the women's triple jump with a score of 10.87. Meade to Win: Laura Meade of the Utica University's women's track and field team has been named Empire 8 Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the week, as announced by the league on Monday. Kelly has the 10th best weight throw in Division III this season and looks to keep setting records. The Liverpool, NY native has now won his second Empire 8 Men's Field Athlete of the week this season and is in the midst of a career year. The senior continued his strong start to the season, and this is his second record set in the new campaign. Kelly won the men's weight throw with his school record throw of 17.55 meters. Tossin It: Antwan Kelly (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) of the Utica University's men's track and field team has been named Empire 8 Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the week, as announced by the league on Monday. Wright captured first scoring 1.91 while Hobin placed second and scored 1.86. Zuriel Wright (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) and Blake Hobin (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) stole the show in the men's high jump capturing the top two spots. Justin Swavely (Rome, NY/RFA) came in fifth and his best throw was 13.25 meters. Billie Mays III (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) placed fourth with his top attempt reaching 13.38 meters. Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) came in third and recorded 15.05 meters in his best attempt. Utica dominated the men's shot put and had three top-five finishers. Zuriel Wright (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) continued his strong start to the season and placed fourth in the men's long jump with his best score coming at 6.61 meters. Amina Sinclair placed third in the women's high jump with a score of 1.52. Jane Fahy came in third place in the women's shot put and her best throw was 11.98 meters. DeSanctis' best throw was 14.31 meters while Costello's was 14.23 meters. The Pioneers had success in the women's weight throw as Gabrielle DeSanctis placed third and Emilia Costello came in fourth. The men's 4x200 team came in third place with a time of 1:36.74 and featured Dylan Asch (Camden, NY/Camden), Ethan Kain (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), Michael Orioles (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge), and Quallan Brown (Brooklyn, NY/Herkimer College). The team featured Nolan Flynn (Bethel, CT/Bethel), Zuriel Wright (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial), Hayden Lohmann (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham), and Jonathan Simmons (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin-Perth). ![]() The men's 4x400 team came in fourth with a time of 3:36.84.
